IUEC Local 125 members walked out September 10 and returned October 8 after a month on the line. TK Elevator says it is back to normal operations and prioritizing hospitals and long-term care facilities first. That is the right call, but it raises a real question about the backlog. Elevators that went down during the strike are still waiting for service, and the people who depend on them most, seniors and folks with mobility issues, have already been waiting a month. For those of you in the Maritimes or who have worked through a similar return-to-work situation elsewhere: how do you triage a backlog like this in practice, and does the "essential services first" policy actually hold up once the pressure is off?
