Update, 10 October 2026
Two things since the last update.
Who might buy the part KONE has to sell. Bloomberg reported on 5 October, citing people familiar with the matter, that Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitec are among the companies looking at bids for TK Elevator's European business. That's the part KONE is expected to sell so the European Commission will clear the deal. Bloomberg puts it at about €5 billion or more. What's actually in the package still depends on KONE's talks with Brussels, and none of the companies would comment. Fujitec is the Japanese maker the Swedish fund EQT took private in March. Singapore is now reviewing it. KONE notified Singapore's competition regulator on 10 September. The regulator posted the case on 7 October and is taking public comments until 20 October. (CCS case page)
Public reviews so far: the US Justice Department (in-depth review since August), India (filed in September), the UK (invitation to comment, 22 September) and now Singapore. KONE still says the deal won't close before the second quarter of 2027.
